Technology Initiatives

To request a new software system, the requesting departments/units should:

  • Determine the functionality that is needed
  • Seek information from supervisors and possibly IT staff about software with similar functionality
  • Consider software options already in use on campus
  • Determine the scope of contracts in place at Western for products offered by the vendor of the software that is to be replaced
  • Determine the scope of the contracts in place at Western for products offered by the vendor of the software being proposed for purchase
  • Consult with IT about the installation needs and timeline

Then, a completed Technology System Initiation Form should be routed to the appropriate supervisor; to be submitted to SALT for consideration by ESS leadership.
